2020: It's a Wrap
Hard to believe the holiday season is nearly upon us! It’s been said often: 2020 was a year like no other. While it’s undoubtedly been a tough one, it’s also taught us a thing or two. At Insurance Advisernet NZ, we’ve been reflecting on the last 12 months. Here’s a few lessons and reminders that we think will stand the test of time for all of us:
The importance of having a good team around you
People who understand your business and can ensure you’re well set up to withstand anything unforeseen that comes your way – be it a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic or an all-too-common weather event. This year IANZ were pleased to welcome 11 new brokerages to our network
The right level of cover for your home and assets
Should the worst occur, as we saw just recently with the Hawke’s Bay floods, make sure you’re adequately covered, which will make claim time that much easier.
Cyber crime can happen to anyone
From hacking to ransomware, the scams became more sophisticated as the months went by, and many of the big players around the world took a hit. You too could be a target, so know what you need to do to be up to speed. If you’re not sure, engage an expert.
The risks of DIY insurance
Buying cover online can leave you either over insured and paying for what you don’t need, or underinsured and at worst not insured.
Support local
So many great Kiwi businesses are SMEs that need our support – remember to buy local, be it goods or services, and every bit counts for the many Kiwi charities who have really done it tough this year.
Look out for each other given the year we’ve had
Whether it’s been working from home while schooling the kids, pivoting your business to suit our uncertain environment, finding a new job or seeking support to get through those challenging times, staying connected with the people around us and looking out for each other is essential to the wellbeing of us all.
Despite the challenges of the year, we believe we’re pretty lucky to live here in NZ when things have been so hard for so many around the world.
It’s been a pleasure to continue to work with you through these times. Thank you for your support this year and best wishes from all of us at Insurance Advisernet for a safe and happy festive season.
