Being there for our clients at the time of a claim is probably the most important role your Insurance Advisernet broker can do. At times the claims process can be long and complex, but at Insurance Advisernet we work closely with our clients and insurer partners to make this process as simple and efficient as possible for you – ensuring you are back in business as quickly as possible.
At Insurance Advisernet, your broker is there to guide you through the claims process. From the lodgement of the claim, monitoring of progress and negotiating with our insurer partners, to ensure the best possible outcome for you.
Ultimately the job of a Broker is to be their clients advocate in their greatest time of need.

- Assist our clients in the claims lodgement process through to finalisation of the claim
- Assist our clients to understand overly complex policy interpretations
- Assist our clients to reduce the cost and the number of claims through effective risk management strategies
- Provide 24hr emergency claims assistance where required
In the event of a claim, our Brokers will:
- Assist our clients in lodging claims and maintain communication every step of the way
- Advocate and negotiate with insurer on behalf of our client to ensure they receive their full entitlements
- Arrange for loss assessor to be appointed where required
- Arrange expert consultants including legal and accounting services where needed
- Arrange access to Risk Management services to assist in prevention or mitigation against future loss
Emergency Claims

Insurance Advisernet has a facility that provides an emergency claims service after office hours, on weekends and public holidays, throughout New Zealand utilising Crawford & Co – expert loss adjusters.
You will talk to an experienced NZ operator who will provide a first response service, whether it be a local service provider or Crawford loss adjuster to arrange assistance, temporary repairs, alternative accommodation or advice.
Your broker will receive an alert the following business day outlining the situation and initial response
Smith & Smith
In the event you have a cracked or broken windscreen or other glass, contact Smith & Smith on 0800 48 33 88. You will need the name of your insurer and your policy number. Generally there is no excess on vehicle glass claims but if in doubt please check with your broker.

As a person in control of a business, you have certain legal obligations when a notifiable event occurs in relation to your business.
Has a notifiable event occurred?
A notifiable event is any of the following events that arise from work:
- a death;
- a notifiable illness or injury; or
- a notifiable accident.
All injuries or illnesses that require a person to be admitted to hospital for immediate treatment are notifiable injuries.
To determine whether a notifiable event has occurred, use the Notify WorkSafe tool at https://www.worksafe.govt.nz/notify-worksafeIf you think that a notifiable event has occurred:
- Follow your emergency procedures and seek medical assistance for any injured employee or person.
- Preserve the scene of the incident. Take all reasonable steps to ensure the site of a notifiable event is not disturbed until authorised by a WorkSafe Inspector.
- Notify WorkSafe. Notify Worksafe now at https://worksafe.govt.nz or 0800 030 040 if the notifiable event is a death.
