Commercial property insurance covers you for accidental loss or damage to your property and can include the costs of disruption to your business as a result, if you have purchased business interruption (or consequential loss) insurance. Please notify your Broker as soon as practical if you have experienced a loss, for example after flooding, fire, earthquake, malicious or other accidental property damage. Even if you think there might not be a claim, report it.
In the event of loss or damage to your commercial property we have set out the following general guidelines to assist:
- Minor damage - take photos, secure the property and report the incident to your Broker to lodge a claim.
- Major damage – call your Broker immediately and follow their advice. Please also complete the claim notification form. For burglary or theft – report the incident to the Police and follow their instructions. Once they have finished, take photos before you tidy things up and secure the premises. If you need to get a builder/glazier to temporarily secure the premises, do so and then contact your Broker to advise them of the incident. Start making a list of the things that have been stolen.
Please note that this is a claim notification form ONLY. Your insurer may still require a claim form to be completed or request other additional information.
