We’ve all seen online scams – whether it’s phishing or ransomware or some slick looking email that looks like it’s from a genuine business.

This week is Cyber Smart Week – and it’s all about being secure online.

Research shows us that cyber-attacks are increasing in volume and sophistication – and while New Zealanders are aware of the need to be secure online, very few people are making it a priority.

Now, a new website by CertNZ explains common cyber threats and provides practical advice to help you create your own defences. It’s called Own Your Online and you can check it out here: ownyouronline.govt.nz

Some of us in the office have tested our own personal security using the website guidelines, and the results have been quite eye-opening. Make sure you spread the word to your clients and staff to protect themselves online.
