We’re delighted to welcome Simon Prangell and Breakwater Insurance Solutions Limited to the IANZ network. 

Simon started his insurance career in Sydney, after leaving Christchurch following the earthquakes. His first job over the ditch was in a call centre - cold calling customers to upsell on credit card insurance. 

From there he worked his way through to underwriting for New Zealand global corporate clients. 

After three years, Simon and his wife moved back to Christchurch and he switched to broking, working for Marsh for 10 years, and building strong relationships with clients. 

Simon says focusing on those relationships and having ‘an ever-quizzical mind, questioning what’s been done before and maximising the good that is already out there” has been integral to his success. 

“I hope my clients will see me as a valued member of their own staff, working with the owners to see the success of their own business, “ he says. 

“I hope to achieve clients who are happy to call me their broker and refer me on to their friends and family.”

When not working, you’ll find Simon spending time at Sumner beach with his wife and daughters or riding around in his Classic car (1971 Triumph GT6, aka Colonel Mustard).

As for striking out on his own, Simon puts it best:

“It's like a rollercoaster, right? Everyone loves rollercoasters, but they scare the crap out of you sometimes.”
