Mental Health Awareness Week 27 September to 3 October

Mental Health Awareness Week 27 September to 3 October

Mental health affects us all – latest figures indicate two out of three of us are experiencing stress while over half have increased anxiety or are emotionally exhausted. After six weeks of lockdown in Auckland, this is something we think we can all relate to.

With Mental Health Awareness Week this week, it’s a good time to share some support to help manage anxiety. Ways you can do this include:

  • Reconnect with someone you care about. Have a chat to family or friends you haven’t spoken to in a while, send them a text or catch up face to face – if you can.
  • Ask them how they’re going and really listen.
  • Go for a wander outside. The little things like singing birds and the wind on our face can also bring joy.

For more daily tips, check out https://mhaw.nz. Keep an eye out too on Thursday when we’ll share more strategies to deal with stress from health and wellness expert Dr Ula Heywood.
